Registration forms are available in the library or you can download a library registration form here.
You will also need to offer some proof of your employment (usually your Trust photo ID card).
Medical students and student nurses will be expected to produce their university photographic ID badge.

Library services
The main library is situated on the top floor of the Education Centre at Newham Hospital.
The library holds over 8,500 books. Visit the resources page to find out more about the library's collections and how you can access them.
The library holds c.140 currently received titles as well as back-runs, and electronic access to over 1000 full-text journals. Visit the resources page to find out more about the library's journal holdings and to learn how to access electronic resources.
Staff will be happy to help with any reference or information queries you may have.
The photocopier operates by Flexicard, available from library staff.
Library staff will give instruction in the use of the databases, or will carry out a literature search for you if you cannot get to the library.
Obtaining journal articles from outside sources:
Photocopies of articles from journals not held by the library may be obtained from other libraries at a charge of £1 per article from NHS libraries or the BMA and £3 per article from the British Library.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ORDER ARTICLES WELL BEFORE YOU NEED THEM.
Obtaining books & videos from outside sources:
Books may be obtained from the BMA, and from other NHS libraries in the Region, at £1.00 per item. The BMA also lends videos. Books obtained from the British Library incur a charge of £3.00.
You can download an interlibrary loan request form here or forms are also available from the library.
The library offers a spiral binding service from £1.00 basic rate.
There are 7 networked PCs loaded with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel & Powerpoint) in the library at Newham Hospital.
Library staff are happy to assist with your information searching needs. If you would like a training session on using the electronic databases, it is advisable to contact the library in advance to arrange a suitable time.
The library aims to keep you up to date with the latest news and developments in the field.

A quiet library reading room is available directly opposite, and for out-of-hours study there is a 24 hour Study/Cyber Room nearby with a small collection of key textbooks.
There is also a small collection of psychiatric journals in the Academic Unit of the Newham Centre for Mental Health.
Costs are 5p per A4 sheet for black & white, 20p for colour. Transparencies can be supplied at a charge of 15p each.
Articles from journals and extracts from books may be copied only in accordance with current copyright legislation.
References may be printed out free of charge. If you think you will need help from staff it is advisable to book ahead.
Please note that in order to comply with copyright law, the signature of the requester is required for each photocopy request.
SPSS is also available on one PC - it is advisable to book in advance to use this.
A further 6 networked PCs are located in the 24hr Cyber Room.
Disks / CD ROMs for saving your work are sold in the library at £0.50 each.
